In pairs, prepare a report that answers the following:

1. What atmospheric conditions lead to the formation of this tropical cyclone?

2. Locate the main areas affected.

3. Outline the meteorlogical conditions associated with Katrina.

4. What were the short term & long term effects? (demographic, economic, social and environmental)

5. What strategies were employed? (monitoring & prediction, immediate response, long-term planning)

6. Assess the success of the strategies, in terms of the following:

- level of success in the short term
- long term future of region
- opinions of different groups

The report will be presented to the group in 2 weeks. A brief outline that summarises your presentation will need to be prepared for the group.
