Waterfalls
By Katie Anderson, Ceri Weston & Adam Skinley (Yr8)
Geography is all around us! It is in our homes, around our homes and far away. Geography is about how we see the world, how distant places are linked and about what we are doing to our world.

Waterfalls are an important feature of the upper course of a river. They form where a river flows over a band of less resistant rock (see animation here). In Pencoed we learn about waterfalls in Year 8 and then again for GCSE. There are a number of spectacular waterfalls around the world. Perhaps the most famous is Niagara Falls on the border between Canada and USA (to view live webcam click here).
