Sand dunes - Oxwich bay, Gower

Much of the coastline near to Bridgend (from Merthyr Mawr and all around Swansea Bay) consists of sand dune ecosystems. Merthyr Mawr is home to the second highest sand dune in Europe (the 'big dipper') and is a popular training location for most local rugby teams and athletes. We learn about sand dunes in geography as they are very diverse but fragile ecosystems that change over time and are under constant threat from humans.
